Q: How do I verify the status of my fingerprint submission?
A: Contact Civil Fingerprinting Screening Services at CCRTIS-SCICTR@rcmp-grc.gc.ca and provide the following information:
· Your full name and date of birth
· The date and the reason you sent the application
· Whether the processing fee was included (if applicable)
Q: Can I submit my application or receive the results by phone, facsimile or e-mail?
A: No. Civil Fingerprinting Screening Services (CFSS) conducts criminal
record checks based on comparison of original fingerprint forms. Civil
Fingerprinting Screening Services (CFSS ) cannot perform checks
using facsimile copies, photocopies or computer printouts.
Civil Fingerprinting Screening Services (CFSS) is not authorized to
release criminal record check information by phone, fax or e-mail since
we cannot confirm the identity of the recipient. All results are returned
by mail and are certified to the fingerprint form.
Q: Is it true I will get my results within 72 hours for fingerprint submission?
A: No, although electronic fingerprinting and electronic conversion do
expedite the initial submission, everyone receives the result by mail.
The 72 hour time line is strictly for a “no hit” whereby the results are
mailed back. If it is determined an individual has a “hit,” meaning
possible convictions, it is then significantly longer, up to 120 days for
the result to be mailed to the applicant. Civil Fingerprinting Screening
Services do not utilize a courier service.
Q: How long does the process take?
A: It can take as little as 10-20 minutes.
